Chamber music series Sessions makes a triumphant return on Nov. 19 featuring "beautiful, physically fearless" (NYTimes) soprano Ariadne Greif and her "luminous, expressive voice" (NYTimes) as accompanied by pianist Jason Wirth.


The centerpiece of Sessions Vol. XIV is George Crumb's masterpiece of the contemporary canon: Apparition (1979), his setting Walt Whitman's Memories of President Lincoln in When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd.Haunting, mesmerizing and visceral Apparition is a tour-de-force performance for both singer and pianist, not often presented and not to be missed.
Also on the program the lush Op. 38 by Rachmaninov, Alyssa Weinberg's Blue Gradations, and Caroline Shaw's We Need To Talk written especially for Ariadne's unique talent.Set in the transporting Coffey Street Studio, Sessions Vol. XIV marks the return of the chamber music series presented by Amanda + James begun in 2017.Proof of vaccination will be required to enter the building.Come have a drink and listen!
